BASIC Health Solutions – Actually Affordable

BASIC health for individuals and families available year-round

Let us help you find more affordable BASIC health insurance solutions designed to expand your coverage and help bridge the gaps in your traditional comprehensive major medical plan (such as surprise out-of-pocket costs for deductibles, copays and coinsurance) under the Affordable Care Act.

BASIC health plans are available to you any time of the year – enroll even outside the federal mandated enrollment periods for major medical ACA plans.  BASIC health plans are approved in most states and come with many benefit options to choose from.  Check out our selected plans brought to you for self-enrollment by the Dealer Benefits Program for Authorized U-Haul Dealers.

Your BASIC health plan options approved in most states now include:

“Fixed Benefit” Health — selected insurance plans from Golden Rule that pay a stated dollar amount to YOU for covered care you receive, regardless of the actual expense or payment made to your care provider by your major medical plan.  Go to the orange enroll button below.

Supplemental health — selected insurance plans from LifeSecure for critical illnesses, accidents and hospital expenses. Go to Supplemental tab.

Temporary or Short-Term Medical insurance plans (only 3 months coverage plus 1 month extension allowed under federal rules).  Go to Personal Medical tab.

Non-insurance health benefits – our big-company freshbenies benefit that includes free telehealth doctor visits and personal health advocate.  Go to the freshbenies tab.

Notice:  Some states starting in 2025 now prohibit Short-Term and Fixed Indemnity health plans for their residents, including Illinois.

Now included in the “actually affordable” BASIC health insurance plan line-up:

  • Health Protector Guard — our combination Fixed Benefit Health plans pay you a stated dollar amount for covered Wellness, Office Visits, Prescriptions and Hospital care)

  • Critical Illness

  • Accident

  • freshbenies (telehealth and personal health advocate)

You can enroll in these BASIC health plans any day of the year.  Underwriting questions on your health may qualify you for the best rates, but you may also be declined coverage.

These basic plans are not for everyone, especially if you depend on health care for pre-existing conditions.  But they may be a better fit for the benefits you actually need and for your budget, especially if your household income level prevents you from qualifying for premium tax credits.

BASIC health plan benefits, coverage provisions, rates and availability vary by state.  Generally, you must be 18-64 years of age to be eligible.  Click on the button below and find out if these new, more affordable plans are approved in your state so you can enroll.
