U-Haul Dealers having over 50 employees are looking for help to avoid tax penalties under the federal health reform law (the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare) for not buying health insurance for their employees. You are not alone. Larger employers across the nation are being advised by their tax and accounting professionals to get an employee health insurance plan in place soon or face significant tax liability starting in 2016.
The U-Haul Dealer Benefits Program can help. Through our private health exchange, we develop affordable employee group health plans for Dealers that meet the federal health reform law requirements. Whether you need a brand new plan or to replace an existing non-compliant plan, our staff is fielding Dealer calls for help.
The process is simple. To start, just go to the Medical section of the Dealer Benefits website and under the Small Business plans tab you will be asked to give us basic information about your business and a census of employees (be sure to include both full and part-time workers). Our staff of licensed professionals takes it from there and gets back to you in a few days with a proposal for your review.
Installing and maintaining a group health plan for employees is a big commitment, so start off on the right foot by taking advantage of our years of expertise and due diligence in researching health plans.
NOTE: For Dealers with 50 or fewer employees — Most U-Haul Dealers have under 50 employees. The federal health reform law does NOT require employers with up to 50 full-time employees to purchase health insurance for employees. It is still a good idea and many Dealers are still among the “good guys” that maintain small group health plans for the benefit of their employees. We can help you get the right small business health plan on the U-Haul private exchange, also under the Small Business tab.
Most Dealers, however, use our popular cafeteria-style program, because we let each employee select their own health plan and other benefits that best fit their needs. Just give employees the link to the U-Haul Dealer Benefits website. This way, employees enroll themselves on the Dealer Benefits website and pay for their own choices, without the requirement of a contribution by the Dealer, payroll deductions or plan administration duties. All plans are voluntary and portable.
To allow employees can access the cafeteria-style program, Dealers are free to share the Dealer Benefits website with employees, if you wish. Just give your employees the link www.dealerbenefits.org
This link does not require a logon or password, so it is easy for employees to access and use, even during non-business hours. But be sure employees know your U-Haul Dealer number, since they will need it when they enroll.
Our staff is available to assist employees with their choices at 888-551-9801.
