How to Activate Your Health Benefits

Our private national health exchange is open online 24/7.  Even though the federal open enrollment for qualified medical plans closed February 15, 2015, we can still help you find a medical plan if you qualify for “life event” enrollment, and for short term medical plans.

• If you have a qualifying “life event” during the year, such as a change of residence to a new state, marriage or birth of a child, you have a special 30-day enrollment period to get an Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) medical plan on the U-Haul private exchange.
• If you are age 65 or getting close, we can help you find affordable Medicare plans in your area.

Just use U-Haul Dealer Benefits private health exchange and enroll for the insurance benefits still available to you all year round.  Look for the tabs for each benefit on the home page.

Prior to 2014, people could apply for medical insurance whenever they wanted or were ready.  No longer.  Under Obamacare, the federal government now sets specific period during the year when people can enroll for qualified medical insurance.  This cutoff includes U-Haul Dealers and their employees.  If you are going uninsured, you will be subject to a new tax penalty.

If you experience a ‘qualifying life event’ during the year, such as a change of residence to a new state, marriage, the birth of a child, or the loss of employer-based coverage, or qualify for a “hardship exemption,” such as home foreclosure, you can can enroll for a qualifying medical insurance plan on the U-Haul private exchange.

Over a decade of operation, your U-Haul “do-it-yourself” private exchange has proven to be safe and secure and Dealers tell us it is easy to use.  Many Dealers have told us they much prefer using our private exchange over the public exchanges. The employees of all your businesses are eligible too, so you can also give them access to this same great program and they can choose the coverage they want.
